Dandelions stainless steel sculpture installation on Cagliari port boulevard, Sardinia

Four dandelions, rendered in stainless steel at monumental scale, now mark the redeveloped seafront boulevard in Cagliari’s port district. Dandelions began as a close structural study of Taraxacum officinale — the seed head’s radiating, almost architectural geometry — then translated that structure from the scale of a single flower to a public landmark several meters tall.

The result sits deliberately between two registers: futuristic in its material and precision, fairy-tale in its silhouette. Commissioned by the Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare di Sardegna, the four-piece installation anchors a prominent stretch of the newly redesigned coastal boulevard, giving the waterfront a recognizable identity point at the city’s edge.

Set against open sea and sky, the sculptures behave differently through the day — reflective and sculptural in daylight, animated by the shifting maritime light along the port.

Flights to the Seven Continents

Suspended overhead in Fresno Yosemite International Airport’s new terminal, Flights to the Seven Continents is an abstract composition built from the trajectories planes trace as they carry passengers around the globe. Mirrored spherical forms hang in dynamic arrangement, tracking flight paths rather than depicting them literally — the piece reads as pure movement frozen in metal.

The mirror-polished surfaces do the rest of the work: as travelers move beneath the sculpture, on foot or on the escalator, their reflections shift and multiply across the globes, briefly folding each passenger into the piece itself. It’s designed to catch people in the first moments of arrival — an unexpected, unforgettable welcome to the city.

The sculpture was designed and engineered by Mirek Struzik, with the full suspension structure prototyped and load-tested in his own studio before fabrication. The final piece was built at STRUZIK ART LTD and installed on-site by the client’s team under Mirek’s personal supervision — ensuring the same precision achieved in the studio was carried through to installation.

Bubble Trees in the Clouds

Bubble Trees in the Clouds was created specifically for the Innovative Learning Classroom Building of the Texas A&M University. This composition consists of the Struzik’s signature Bubble Tree on a terrace surrounded by glass walls, and a large scale wall art installation basing on a solid aluminum film wallpaper and three-dimensional, foamed PCV grass blade details.

The two elements complement each other and provide a calming, close to nature feeling to the students and faculty members of the high-tech facility in Collage Station, TX. They merge form, light, and space into a dynamic, thought-provoking piece that resonates with students, faculty, and visitors. The accompanying mural further enriches the experience, creating a harmonious dialogue between sculpture and environment.

The stainless steel sculpture on the terrace is uplit with the dynamic RGB LED system that changes colors – it additionally enhances the mood on the terrace in the evening. The wall art is visible from the terrace too – when relaxing under the tall sculpture, the audience can surround themselves in the specifically created, relaxing environment inspired both by nature, and by technology.

The project was realized as a result of Mirek Struzik winning an international art competition organized by the Texas A&M university. The goal was to create a set of two art installations that correspond with each other.

Jellyfish Shrub

Jellyfish Shrub elaborates on the themes such as processes and dependencies related with what lies at the heart of all life – plant growth and the role of oxygen in photosynthesis. The piece explores the interplay between biological science, art, and craft—profound yet intimately connected to everyday life—reflecting on our relationship with nature. It integrates themes of flora of the lands and seas, as well as the atmosphere we breathe. At sunset, the dynamic RGB lighting system transforms the sculpture in a stunning metamorphosis spectacle, making it a surreal addition to the green space beside retention pond.

Creating a site-specific sculpture for a scientific institution that focuses on agricultural biotechnology and integrating it with an interesting landscape with a scenic pond, modern architecture of the Academia buildings and research greenhouses.

Ultimately, the sculpture’s goal is to become a unique landmark that defines the space on the campus by being a focal point centered around scientific themes and utilizing biomimicry in its cutting-edge design.

The project was a cooperation between STRUZIK ART LTD and DADA IDEA Co., Ltd, and its first step was winning an international competition organized by Academia Sinica in Taiwan

Dandelions – Dallas

“Dandelions” is an installation directly inspired by the sophisticated design of dandelions (Taraxacum officinale) occurring in nature. The concept of this work was preceded by a meticulous analysis of the structure of dandelion seedhead, which in a somewhat simplified form was then transposed to the macro scale. As a result, the delicate floral pattern took on a completely new — half futuristic, half fairy tale — context.

Designed for Cap3000 “Bubble Forest” and “Dandelions” installations were created as a result of inspiration with delicate natural plant forms, and were executed in extremely hard and weather-resistant material — acid-resistant stainless steel.

Bubble Forest

“Bubble Forest” was created as a reflection on the ability of plants to produce oxygen. The title forest consists of 18 steel stems/trunks ending with inflorescences/crowns in the form of spherical constructions representing a single air bubble. “Bubble Forest” refers to the terrestrial flora as well as to that known from the bottom of lakes, seas and oceans.
